Just want to make a note to my future self.
Terry: In case you forget, stripping down old donor parts is more grief than you will probably remember. When you build the next Cobra, get the supplier to strip everything off the axles and just send you the bits you need. Don't worry about the cost. Whatever it is, it will be worth it.
Friday 8th February 2019. Hired a trailer, trip to AK, load up body and chassis, head back north.
All good. Really nice to see and chat with Jon and Wendi. Lots more ideas for the build.
Overnight on the trailer during storm Erik.
Dawn. Wind 30G50KT OVCA RA
And by the way the workshop is flooded.
It was, I have to say, built in a bit of a rush to accommodate the main kit arriving.
No possibility now of using the workshop until the weather can be kept on the outside.
So, body and chassis laid up in storage in a local barn (along with the caravan, the Z3 and the Tiger 800).
What with the wind, rain, arranging hands to help lift and shift, being in a rush to get under cover and the trailer back, I've hardly had chance to take a look at what I have.
Someone noticed though. Struggling to get the trailer up the driveway, Avril was approached by an apparition in the wind and rain he seemed to not notice. Young dude with long hair, he may have been a carpenter. "Oh great, you're building a Cobra. What engine are you putting in it". Too stunned to offer a sensible reply, trying to get the trailer out of the road, on turning round, the apparition had disappeared. I consider my Cobra blessed. Shame it wasn't the workshop.
